Yogurt Custard Toast - Viral Tiktok Recipe
Delicious and easy toast recipe topped with a simple custard made from yogurt, egg and honey.
Equipment
- 1 Small Bowl
- 1 dessert spoon
- 1 fork or small whisk
- 1 Flat baking tray
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread (sliced pan is best)
- 1 whole egg
- 2 tbsp greek yogurt as thick as possible
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract or paste
- 1-2 tbsp honey to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°c (360°f) or 170°c (340°f) if fan assisted.
- Add the egg, yogurt, vanilla and honey to a small bowl.
- Using a fork or small whisk, whisk together briskly until combined until no lumps remain.
- Using the spoon, press down firmly into the middle of the slices of bread without ripping through the base so it creates a slight indent in the middle or a well. See videos above for visual demonstration.
- Divide the yogurt mix between the two slices of bread and pour into the middle of the slices of bread.
- Using the spoon, gently push the custard mix to cover most of the bread.
- Top with desired toppings, (see post above for inspiration) and bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden brown around the edges, the bread has toasted and the custard has risen slightly and become dry to the touch.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool sllightly for a couple of minutes before slicing anf serving.
