Strawberry Hemp Floral Frozen Pops Recipe

These Strawberry Hemp Floral Frozen Pops are an amazingly delightful treat for a warm summer day. Not only that, but they are a super stylish snack using edible flowers that not only add to the flavour, but they really make them look so pretty! They couldn’t be easier to make and only contain 3 ingredients; cooled hemp CBD tea, strawberry syrup and edible flowers.

So how do I make these Strawberry Hemp Floral Frozen Pops from scratch?

To begin, brew your hemp tea as directed on the package. Strain out the tea when brewed and leave to cool. Add in your strawberry syrup to taste and whisk together until combined. Pour carefully into your popsicle moulds. Prepare your edible flowers by washing gently in cold water. Remove any stems or leaves from the flowers. For the smaller flowers, you can use them whole but consider plucking off the petals to use when using the larger flowers. Place your edible flowers into the moulds. Close the moulds as per manufacturers instructions and freeze for 4 hours or until frozen solid.

Where do I get the strawberry syrup?

I usually make my own strawberry syrup. This is made simply by adding equal amounts of sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen), water and sugar together in a small saucepan. Heat this on a medium heat for 4-5 minutes until the strawberries completely soften. Remove from the heat and leave to cool slightly. Blend until smooth and pour through a sieve or strainer.

If this isn’t an option for you, there are many products you can buy instead. Monin do a delicious strawberry syrup that an be used (start off with 20ml and taste from there). For an Irish made syrup try Wild About Strawberry Syrup. The syrup from canned strawberries can be used in a pinch also. If substituting for a bought alternative, make sure to start off by adding just a little bit and then add more to taste if needed. The bought syrups can be overly sweet.

What is hemp tea and where do I get it in Ireland?

The hemp tea that I used for this recipe is Balance by Ethos, (use my affiliate code PINK15 for 15% off your purchase!) it is hemp tea mixed with dried rosehips, and lemongrass and gives a gorgeous floral flavour. What kind of flowers are edible?

Not all kinds of flowers are edible. Make sure you have fully researched what types of flowers you can eat before attempting to eat them. If harvesting your own edible flowers, make sure you wash them thoroughly before use and avoid picking blooms from the roadside or where they may have been treated with pesticides. When using edible flowers, make sure you remove all stems and leaves which can be quite bitter. If using small flowers you can use the whole flower bud but when selecting larger flowers like rose, hibiscus etc. it’s best to remove the petals and use them. For this recipe I used chamomile, (would not recommend as it is quite bitter raw) Calendula petals, Nasturtium and Malva. You can also use Rose petals, Hibiscus, Elderflower, Borage, Lavender, Primrose, Dianthus or a number of other edible flowers. You could even add in some mint or herb leaves.

Equipment

  • 8 Popsicle moulds
  • 1 jug or bowl
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 400 ml cooled hemp tea
  • 100 grams strawberry syrup or juice
  • edible flowers soaked in water for a few minutes then drained

Instructions
 

  • In a jug or bowl, combine the cooled and prepared hemp tea and strawberry syrup/juice. Whisk together.
  • In the bottom of the moulds, place the edble flowers. The smaller ones can be used whole while larger ones are better broken up and petals placed inside.
  • Carefully pour over the tea mix to the top and follow popsicle moulds direction to cover or close.
  • Freeze for 4 hours or until solid.
  • Serve immediately. Leftovers can be kept in the freezer for up to 1 month.
