Christmas Biscuits, sometimes known as Sugar Cookies, are rolled biscuits that are decorated festively and iced, usually with royal icing. My go to is royal icing but I must confess, I rarely make my own. I nearly always use Siucra’s instant royal icing, It’s super convenient, you just add water and beat for a few minutes and you get perfect results every time. This is not an ad by the way, I’m just a fan! If you want to know how to make these biscuits from scratch, follow the link here for recipes.
These simple yet super cute biscuits are topped with white royal icing and sprinkled with crushed candy cane. I pipe a circle around the edges first and then spread a little more icing in the middle to cover. It gives a nicer result as you’re less likely to spread the icing over the side of the biscuit if you have a line to guide you. I smash up my candy canes inside a ziploc bag so clean up is really easy.
Create some glitzy Christmas Sprinkle Wreath Biscuits by cutting a circle using a large round cutter and then cutting the middle out with a small round cutter. When they are baked, carefully spread white royal icing on top and add some sprinkles while the icing is still wet. I used Dr Oetker, Glamour and Sparkle sprinkles for these.
I love how effortless yet fun these Christmas Tree biscuits are. I piped white royal icing diagonally and looped the piping bag at the edges. You could simplify this and just pipe zig zags with dots at the edges. I took a small amount of the white royal icing and divided it into two. I dyed one green, and the other red, using Dr. Oetker food colourings and just randomly piped little dots along the lines.
These Christmas star biscuits are so adorable and so much fun to make! I kept it simple with just white royal icing for these ones. Some I traced straight lines along the edges, others I drew a small star in the middle and some I just simply piped on dots. Sprinkles are optional here but really do look so cute and unique with the pop of colour!
These 3d Christmas Tree Biscuits are actually a lot easier than they look, I got the idea from the Odlums recipe, here. I baked off a bunch of vanilla Christmas biscuits in star shapes. I used two different sized cutters, a larger star and a smaller one. Whey they cooled, I piped around the edges with either white royal icing or green coloured icing. I let the icing set for about an hour and then assembled the trees. I did this by piping a little bit of royal icing onto the middle of a larger star and stacking each star on top with a different edge poking out on each layer. After 5-6 large stars I switched to smaller stars, 2-3 of the smaller ones and finished it off with a blob of icing on top.
